Several years ago the Arizona Elks Major Projects adopted this logo as a way to link our projects to a single effort. We didn’t want the two major elements of our projects to be competing. They are equally important and deserving of our attention and this new logo was born. It represents the Children around the state that benefit from our Camp and the care and research from the Steele Children’s Research Center. But he doesn’t have a name.
AEMP needs your help to name the logo lad and raise the additional $30,000 we need this year to provide free camping to youth groups next year. Four names have been suggested:
“Jack” – for AEA President Jack Lawrence & Youth Camp Innovator Jack Warter, Jr.
“Pete” – for Long time AEMP Director and lifetime supporter Pete Gillespie.
“Jerry” – for Past State and AEMP President Jerry Grimes.
“Al” – for past AEMP Director and future AEA President Al Skorupski.
You can vote with your dollars, and of course write in candidates are welcome. If anyone wants to send in a check for $30,000 and name the logo “Rumpelstiltskin” I am sure they have a good shot at winning.
We will be sending out a mailer in September, but you don’t have to wait, you can send in a check or make an on-line donation anytime, just be sure you include a memo, note, or email to indicate your preference of name.
Balloting will close at the Mid-Year Convention, October 24th, 2015 and the winning name will be announced at the AEMP meeting on Saturday October 25th. Here is one election where you can vote as often as you want. Working together we do great things.
Visit Elks4kids.org to make an on-line donation anytime.
Send check to: AEMP 4545 East 5th Street, Tucson AZ 85711
